History

Carl T. Smith Middle School opened on August 2, 2004. Smith Middle School is named after long-time school board member Carl T. Smith. Smith was originally built with a 250-student capacity. In November of 2006, Smith received funding from the state to expand its facilities. Starting in December of 2006 until completion in July 2007, Smith received 13 new classrooms, 8 new bathrooms, as well as some exterior improvements. Smith now has the capacity to educate up to 500 students.
