Art Students will follow basic instructions to get started and will then be "set free" to be creative. Students will create their own personal alphabets, stained glass windows and will be introduced to the art of ceramics.

Drama Students will learn the basics of theater with opportunities for field trips to master their new craft.

Chorus In this class, students learn the basics of singing. Students in this class will have the opportunity to perform in the community, for the school, and during field trips – including one to Disneyland!

Technology Through programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher, students will learn the basics of a computer and how a computer can be used in their other classes as well as real life. A variety of projects are offered to students from learning how to create a letter in Word to how to creating their own websites. They will learn how to research a topic on the Internet and turn in their work by attaching their work to an e-mail to their teacher.

Digital Photography This class will teach 7 th grade students how to use a digital camera and how to take a great picture! Students will also assist in taking pictures for the yearbook!

Band The Pueblo band program is available for 6 th, 7 th and 8 th grade students. The students learn an instrument in 6 th grade, and progress to higher levels of musicianship in 7 th and 8 th grade. The 8 th grade band has many performances each year including a trip to the State Fair, multiple concerts throughout the school year, the Isaac Multicultural Parade, High School Football games, and a performance at the State Capital. Each year the 8 th grade band goes on an overnight trip to California for a competition, culminating with a concert at Disneyland!

Library Science and Research Ms. Goldstein will be offering a special area class this year for 6 th and 8 th graders. This class will teach the students how to find items in a library and how to research information using not just a computer, but also books!

Girls PE The Girls PE department covers a variety of sports with all grade levels. Some of these sports include general exercises, running, badminton, archery and gymnastics as well as a punting, passing and kicking competition in cooperation with the National Football League!

Coach Zavala
Boys PE For the first twenty minutes of the class period students engage in vigorous physical activity, including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, and endurance training. At the beginning and end of each quarter students test themselves in these areas to measure improvements. The second half of class is spent on sports and games. The goal of this component is to teach the students the skills that will be necessary to engage in physical activity for the rest of their lifetime.

Gifted Ms. Armstrong is in charge of the gifted program. Many of our gifted students see her for math each week.

A/P Classes Advanced Placement classes are held from 7:15 to 8:15 each morning with breakfast served at 7. Students can enroll in these classes through recommendations from their teachers or based on their previous year’s AIMS scores. These classes are for 7 th and 8 th graders and cover Literature and high school Algebra.

After-School Tutoring Tutoring is available after school Monday through Thursday for all subjects. If the student needs help catching up or just wants to get ahead of the class, the opportunity is available to them each day. Students who stay for tutoring can catch the 5pm bus.

Ceramics Ceramics is an opportunity for all students regardless of grade to learn how to handle clay and produce working, practical projects. Ceramics meets 2 days a week from 3:30 - 4:30.
