Counseling assistance is provided to the students of Moya Elementary School on an as needed basis. In addition, parents may request assistance in special situations that involve the students. The administration and staff are prepared to deal with emergencies. Students may be referred for assistance by parents or teachers. On occasion, students may also seek help themselves or through their teacher.

Parents are informed of situations that may require counseling services. Permission for counseling must be provided in writing to the school. Counseling referral forms are available at the school and must be signed by the parents and/or legal guardians prior to the commencement of formal counseling sessions. Counseling is provided in both individual and group situations. In addition, the counselor may teach lessons to classrooms, although such lessons are normally limited to general discussions of such topics as anger management and decision-making skills.
