Counseling services are available to students experiencing any type of problem or social issue. The school counselor also provides classroom presentations and lessons on prevention skills and dealing with peer pressure, as well as a variety of other topics. The counselor’s role includes:

• To help children with social and behavioral skill building
• To work with children to develop prevention techniques
• To help identify children with special needs
• To provide interventions
• To provide mediation services between students
• To act as the liaison between the school and outside agencies
• To help develop personalized programs, when applicable, based on each child’s strengths and needs
• To refer families to community agencies for services
