After school opportunities include the 21 st Century Community Learning Center program. Through this program, students may attend academic classes for support in reading, writing and math. The academic hours are 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. Enrichment classes are also offered, including sports, arts, technology and games. Enrichment classes are from 4:00 – 5:00. Alston’s after school program coordinator is Mrs. Liliana Grijalva. She can be reached at the school office, 602 442-3000.

Another after school program is All Star Kids Tutoring. ASKT pairs trained volunteers with a third grade student. They meet one evening per week, throughout the year, to strengthen students’ reading skills. Not only are students academic skills increased, but lasting relationships are formed between the student and his/her tutor.
